The Interfaces package of the Omegahat source tree provides a collection of different inter-system interfaces between different

• languages,
• applications,
• machines.

There are facilities for communicating between S (i.e., R, SPlus5 and SPlus6) and

• Perl
• Python
• Java
• ggobi

A general communication mechanism using CORBA is provided here to allow S and Java code to invoke methods or operations on objects in other applications and languages. Additionally, S and Java objects can be easily used as CORBA servers. We also provide some GUI tools to visualize a CORBA naming context and the contents of the interface repository in which the operations different types of objects provide are kept

Other packages of interest include XML which allow communication of data between different applications in an application-neutral and easy to parse manner.
